Morning Glory


How quickly the morning glory take over. A few weeks of no weeding and the raspberry canes are choked by the invasive vines. Can I ever stop something that is so fiercely inclined to take over? How much must we continually cull so that the ones we nurture can thrive?

Blue Lips


Blue lips, almost purple by the end of the evening, vividly signified the dangerous lack of oxygen. There was no way she would miss this afternoon - her only son’s wedding, and an oxygen tank would belie her strength. And besides, oxygen tanks do not go well with celebratory attire.

The Road Narrows


At first, the road is so wide, you fear nothing. The farther you go, the narrower the road gets. Until you are closed in and barely have room for error. Dexterity wanes, yet is more crucial than ever. Confidence in your intuition soars, but to the loss in navigational ability.

Dog Walking


Desperately wanting to walk, Tito turns around after only 200 yards. Is this our future? We will remember how much we once loved it, but we can no longer physically do it. If only we can be as smart to turn around when we realize it is now beyond us.

Peonies


Waiting all winter for the colors of spring. For a month the peonies were buds. They blossomed three days ago. I want to take flowers to the neighbor’s house for a wedding. I cut them all. After all they would either die on the plant or die for a wedding.
